Dionaea m. ‘Mirror’ is a cultivar that falls under the weird, mutant category. The spring traps appear totally normal. But as summer wears on the traps start to mutate with tiny traps popping out of grownup traps, like the reflections of a fun house mirror! Very cool mutated form that also grows normal traps for catching prey. Mutated traps will grow extra traps on the side and back of the main trap. The mutation is seasonal and comes and goes as it pleases.
The variability of this cultivar ranges from leaves with normal traps to leaves with double traps, and everything in between (little ‘wings’ or even ‘cups’ on each side of the trap). Double traps are formed in the beginning and the end of a growing season. It grows and flowers quite normally.
